What Do I Actually Do? 🤔 The Question I Get Asked the Most!

Hello and Happy February!

Who else is glad to see the back of January? 🙋‍♀️ It’s a month filled with New Year resolutions, extreme diet culture, and never-ending social media pressure to “transform your life” overnight. No wonder so many of us feel drained and uninspired by February!

But we are over that now, so onto February – yay!

I had an interesting conversation with a lady who was advised to reach out to me to help with her symptoms by a previous client and the first thing she said was ‘what do you actually do?’. I was a little confused as she had mentioned that she had heard all about her friend’s experience and looked at my website and yet still she was asking me what I did. It got me thinking – who else has no clue as to what I do and is it easy to quantify?

In essence, nutritional therapy is the practice of using food, supplements and healthy diets, tailored towards an individual to help them move forward with their health goals. Even writing this, I don’t think it conveys what I do, that’s an internet-worthy answer. Yes, I do all of that but it’s more than just a written plan with recommendations as to what to eat, what not to eat and what supplements might help with symptoms. If I worked in that manner, I doubt any of my clients would find it useful long term. I have spent over 13 years in clinical practice and how I work has evolved tenfold with experience. What you realise when you work in this profession for as long as I have is that knowing physiology, anatomy, nutritional science and application is only a fraction of what is needed to support your client. Women especially with all their emotional habits, life stressors, fluctuating hormones, time restraints, body image baggage and lifestyle restrictions need more than a written plan and a supplement protocol. Only when you truly see a person emotionally, spiritually and physically can you work with them to correct all the imbalances, reduce symptoms and gain optimal health. I am a nutritional therapist yes but also a health coach, mentor and a sponsor of change. Now try conveying that in a conversation with someone who has never met you – ha !

This is as accurate as a response that I can do:

“I am a nutritionist and expert in women’s health, food and hormones. I support women to balance their hormones, regain healthy eating habits and break free from the constraints of dieting and emotional eating to gain a happy relationship with food and their bodies”.

So, if you are struggling with your hormones, relationship with food or general wellbeing, you know I’ve got you covered!

Here is how I showed up in the world in January:

  • 5 new clients booked onto my 12-week Transformational Hormone Packages
  • Supporting my current clients at various parts of their health journeys. All moving forward in their health goals and feeling motivated and energised.
  • Completed a remote 14-day Detox Reset Programme with 20 lovely women who all benefitted from following my nutritional plan, advice and support over the 14 days. I’ve attached some of the lovely comments below as they fill my heart 🫶.
  • Continued ploughing through my assignment work for my Practitioner Masters in Eating Disorders qualification through The National Centre for Eating Disorders. This is a passion project and a calling for me and has been a year-long process. With eating distress, binge eating and disordered eating on the rise, I must be part of the solution. I aim to be fully qualified by April – just in the assignment completion phase (aka hell!) at the moment!
  • Planning sessions are underway for a new in-person offering at a lovely new women-centred clinic in Sale, Cheshire. Thrive Wellness Hub is a multi-disciplinary clinic which aims to support women in all stages of life through targeted therapies. Some of their lovely service offerings include Pilates, Yoga, Reflexology, Sound Baths, Breath Work therapy, monthly woman’s circles, massage and talking therapists and psychologists and of course, Nutritional therapy via me!

Not a bad start to the year all things considered! With studies, clients, and planning my in-person masterclasses, you will have to forgive me for not being as vocal on here as I would like but be rest assured, I will share all up-and-coming events with you over the coming months !

If you are interested in joining our next remote group, we have a Spring 21-Day Reset programme due to start in March to tackle your health and target your eating habits leaving you lighter, brighter and energised then feel free to drop me an email at info@debbiegallimore.com.
